"Best Aerial Views of NY if not on a Helicopter" Empire State Building Tip by mydreamquest
Empire State Building, New York City: 371 reviews and 605 photos
For about $14, you can get on an elevator and go atop the Empire State Building and enjoy spectacular views of New York City. Regrettably, I only had my cellular phone to take pictures, so here they are.
I recommend that you arrive after 9pm or so because at that time, on a Friday night, when I took these pictures, there was not much of a line. There are many queues that you have to go through to enter and exit this building so allocate an hour to two hours time. At night it is very peaceful to be above New York City and all its light and noise. There's a certain detachment you feel from up there made famous by the movies "Sleepless in Seattle" and "An Affair to Remember." If you plan on visiting New York City, watch both of those movies for certain if you think you will go atop the Empire State Building. It will definitely build up your excitement for this building, which, I think was erected during the time of the Depression in the 1930s.
