"The Cambodian Blistering Heat" Angkor Wat Favorite Tip by neurochic

Favorite thing: The sun in Cambodia during noontime can make you feel like you are being cooked on a skewer alive. My advice is that you try to avoid seeing the temple during midday. Not only will you beat the sun, but you will also dodge all the other tourists who didn't decide to start earlier. Your best bet to beat the heat is to hire a taxi driver to come and pick you up at your hotel early in the am and start seeing the temples early on and then around noontime take a break for lunch and go back to your hotel for a much earned nap that you will probably need because of all the walking you did during the morning and because of the heat. Then I advise heading back out later in the afternoon to finish up and then watch the sunset over Angkor. Make sure you stay well hydrated and I advise taking water with you in a backpack because the prices at the temple for water are astronomical. Also make sure you wear plenty of sunscreen. I made the mistake of not and the next day I was red as a lobster and that's coming from a girl who is half Vietnamese and Italian. My poor fair skinned husband with sunscreen was pretty sunburned as well.
