Day 2 : Hofburg area
If you are visiting the Augustinerkirche, do not forget to visit the Loreto Chapel.
In 1627, Eleonora von Mantua spouse of Emperor Ferdinand II, gave the order to build a copy of the Casa Santa von Loreto (Italy) in the Augustinerkirche.
The Madonna of Loreto is also the main Madonna of the Habsburgs.
Inside the Chapel there are the silver urns which contain the hearts of the Habsburgs.
The entry to the Chapel is also very special as it is decorated with skulls and skeletons. (See pictures).
