Kensington Palace, Greater London: 2 reviews and 5 photos
This is another royal residence, on the west side of Hyde Park. It is still a working palace, so visitors have some restrictions.
Kensington Palace was built in 1689, on orders from England's new king, William III (William of Orange). It was designed by Sir Christopher Wren, who also designed St Paul's Cathedral. It remained the Royal Family's favorite residence until 1760. It was the birthplace and childhood home of Queen Victoria. In 1996, it became the home of Princess Diana, following her divorce from Prince Charles.
