One of the best way to enjoy eating in Thailand is to try the many noon buffets. Most are served in major hotels. They are inexpensive, ranging from US$10 to US$20, and they offer a wonderful variety of international foods. For a good sampling of Thai and Chinese foods, try the extensive buffet at the JIT POCHANA RESTAURANT (1082 Paholyothin Rd. tel. 279-5000) or for an excellent Thai buffet, try TALAY THONG RESTAURANT (in Siam Inter-Continental Hotel, tel. 253-0355). And if you are looking for an open-air restuarants in lovely water and garden settings, try KUM LUANG (560 Asoke-Dindaeng, tel. 246-3272). But I must warn you that this restaurant built over ponds, so make sure to apply mosquito repellant or request a mosquito coil for under your table.

Favorite Dish: Thailand has long been famous for its beautiful temples and gracious Thai hospitality, but now another aspect of their culture is rapidly gaining popularity, that is, Thai cooking. Thai food is known as for its spicy, subtle flavorings and the aroma of the Thai ingredients and herbs. From the various regions of Thailand come endless cooking techniques representing a wide diversity of styles and tastes. There are such old-time favorites as TOM YAM KUNG, spicy KAENG PED or Thai curries and all kinds of vegetables carvings, just to mention a few.
