Walking up to the top of a Cathedral is something you should do only if you are a reasonably fit person. It is very tiring walking up all the steps, and with Il Duomo in Firenze there is no exception. This Duomo had some of the steepest stairs that I have seen in a while. So just remember to take your time and bring a small bottle of water with you.

But like going up any other Duomo or tower, the views that you get when you reach the top are well worth it. Also, on the way up you will get a nice close up of the frescoes on the interior of the dome.
