The FDR memorial is best seen at night, when the crowds have died down, the sun's glare has passed, and the man who lead America through one of its darker times is remembered.

The ambient lighting and the sounds of the waterfalls remind us that the gaunt figures of the depression, and the larger-than-life statues of the man, his dog, and his wheelchair are images of people just like us, people who wanted a fair days wage for work that could not be found.
