Durgerdam is enclosed on all side by Amsterdam. From the landside, Amsterdam's skyline is visible over the wetlands that form a last defense against the high rised buildings that approach steadily. Even from the waterside Durgerdam has to reckon with Amsterdam closing in. Here the new created islands are filled with large blocks and come into view from the small village along the dike. How long will it take before Durgerdam is surrounded and truely becomes a part of Amsterdam.
