Durgerdam and the Markermeer are just made for watersports. There is always wind, which makes this environment ideal for windsurfing and sailing. Amsterdam offers many possibilities to go out in a boat (just like the old sailors of the VOC once did - haha). The Markermeer stretches outside MAtsredam and Durgerdam is the first stop on the way North along the coastline of the former Souther Sea (now IJsselmeer and Markermeer).
