Located in a residential area in leafy Chiswick, The Burlington looks like your dream local restaurant.

It is small, cosy and friendly looking. Small candles on each table add to the relaxed atmosphere. The staff are friendly (though a little inexperienced) and you just get a good vibe about the place.

I had wanted to check this place out for a while, and when we decided last minute to dine out on a Saturday night, I was pretty confident we would be able to get a table here, and I was right.

To be honest I am not sure how well they are doing here?.it was a Saturday night and we were 1 of only 4 tables of people eating that night?..not too good for a restaurant that has been opened for 18 months and looks great.

Perhaps the answer was in the food?.although well presented, it was nothing that we couldn't have made at home.

Favorite Dish: It didn't start too well when we ordered some wine?on the menu it said it was a 2002 vintage, but when they bought the bottle over to show us before opening it was actually the 2004?.a bit young for the wine. They then had a look through all of their wine stock and determined that half the wines on the list were not available, and most of the others had the wrong vintages listed?.most were actually 2004...sigh.

Alex had a Pumpkin & Parmesan Risotto to start which was pretty bland. We then both had the Scotch Fillet, which was ok?the chips were very tasty though. The best part of the meal was definitely the Dark Chocolate Mousse - very very delicious!

So, to sum up, we won't be back. A pity, as it had such potential?and friends that have eaten there before thought it was great?maybe it was just an off night. Problem is there are so many better places to go and new places to try.
