  Philippa kayaking below local villagers
by SouthernAfricaGuide

A delightful grade 3-5 river trip starting at or just above Besi Shahar. The villagers are not too used to tourists as the hikers that come down from the Annapurna Circuit usually hop on a bus from here back to Kathmandu. (1994) It is an exciting and challenging run with fine rapids and it took my husband and I, both solo kayaking, about 4 or 5 days to complete the section, overnighting in tiny rooms offered by the local villagers. The photo with the villagers on the suspension bridge has me entering the first rapid of day 3 I think - a good early morning cold wet slap in the face...
An acquaintance of mine, Dave Allardice, runs Ultimate Descents in Kathmandu & New Zealand and I highly recommend his professional white water rafting and kayaking operation.
