Canada is an awfully big country with so much terrain and rugged wildlife to explore. In the province of Quebec, however, the heritage goes back many years and some of the country's first settlers made their homes here.

Some of the places I explored while in the area include Sherbrooke, Valcourt, Magog, Mt. Tremblant, North Hatley, Québec City, Riviére du Loup, and Trois Pistoles. I was actually living in Sherbrooke for several months so the drives were easy, relaxing, and all around bucolic. Activities included whale watching, festival attending, SHOPPING, restaurant and club hopping, seeing the Northern Lights, watersports on the lakes, visiting the benedictine monastery of St. Benoit du lac, roller blading along the Lechine boardwalk, and just absorbing the Quebecois culture on tap.

If you're spending time in Montreal, it would be well worth your while to get out of the city and sample some of Canada's rural charm.
