Favorite thing: The Galapagos is one of those special places on earth where you can really enjoy wildlife and stand in awe at its beauty and resourcefulness. I would suggest a trip to the Galapagos to anyone, as long as they have an interest in wildlife. The scenery is not that great so you must really appreciate animals to make the most of it.

If you do make it to the Galapagos you will be rewarded with seeing special wildlife up close - in a place unlike any other on earth. You will also, through your guide, learn so many fascinating facts about the geology of the islands, their human history as well as about the animals themselves.

Yes, they are expensive but at the end a visit to this place is worth every penny. My recommendation is spending at least 1 week there. 4 day cruises are actually 2 days on the islands which is not enough to appreciate the Galapagos in all their majesty. If the issue is monetary save up for the extra days - or you will regret it.

Fondest memory: I cannot possibly mention just one so I will generalize. When I look back I remember how friendly the wildlife is and how close you can get. It is not everyday that you approach an animal and it is not scared ... apart from the priviledged feeling you can observe the animals behaving as they would if there weren't any humans around - and that is truly special.
