Langan's Brasserie, London: 3 reviews and 8 photos
Located just off Piccadilly, next to Green Park tube station, Langans Brasserie has been packing them in for over 25 years. Having walked past it numerous times, we decided to give it a try for dinner one night.
The Brasserie is split over 2 levels. The decoration is kind of French/cigar room feeling and the clientele seemed to be mainly work colleagues/business men and a smattering of tourists. We ate in the large ground floor room, where the walls are covered with fairly ugly pictures/paintings. I had a look at the upstairs Venetian Room which looked kind of special.
Service was professional although a little hap-hazard, and had to ask twice for the bill and then wait for ages.
The restaurant was full and it was VERY noisy - not a place for a romantic meal. Also, smoking is allowed which is always a minus in my book.
Favorite Dish: Langans cuisine is Anglo/French, and we did really enjoy the food.
We shared the Smoked Duck Salad to start which was delicious and well presented (see photo). For main course I had Cod & Chips - the chips were delicious, and Alex had a very tasty Roast Partridge. He was particularly impressed that there was tiny bits of 'gun shot' in the meat - meaning that the bird had been shot as opposed to farmed.
Dessert's sounded too good to miss...so Alex had the Banana & Toffee Cheesecake, which he said was average. I picked the real winner though - the Treacle Tart was AMAZING!! One of the tastiest desserts I have had in a long time....worth going back for just for that!
