  The Jewel Tower, Westminster
by easyoar

There are only two bits of the original Westminster Palace that still exist. One is Westminster Hall which is now part of the current Houses of Parliament. This is the other bit, and is much easier to get inside as it is not part of the current Houses of Parliament. It is just across the road from them and is quite well hidden by St Margarets Church and Westminster Abbey (from Parliament Square at least!).

The Original task of the Jewel Tower (as the name implies) was as a stronghold to keep all the Kings treasure in (the King being Edward III initially). These days the jewels are gone :-( (the Tower of London would be the best place to see these) and there is an exhibition here on Parliament Past and Present.

From memory the cost is just over 2 to get in.

Address: Parliament Square, SW1
Directions: Just across the road from the Houses of Parliament (look for the statue of King Richard the Lionheart and then look across the road).
