Dining at Zanzibar is romantic and exotic! The Moroccan inspired atmosphere made it a hit with us. Upstairs there was a very popular terrace area, but since we were traveling with three children we thought it best to settle in the downstairs dining room. We eased ourselves into the comfortable cushions lining the seating area and just relaxed. Music pulsed throughout the restaurant helping to create an entertaining evening for us.
UPDATE: We paid a return visit to Zanibar (Feb.06) Calories aside, we began our meal with an appetizer called Trilogy--it included mini empanadas, chicken pieces and mini balls of meat. We also sampled humus accompanied by small rounds of bread. I ordered Chicken and Rice Curry with Vegetables($7.400 pesos) that was tender and flavorful. I also had one of the best Strawberry Coladas I've ever tasted! ($3.800 pesos). **5.000 pesos are the equiv. of $10 US.
As we were conversing over our appetizers and drinks, exotic strains of music drifted through the restaurant announcing the entertainment--a very beautiful belly dancer. She floated up the aisles to the small stage at the front of the restaurant and performed a wonderfully sensual dance.
Zanzibar is located at the BordeRio complex at Avenue Escriva` de Balaguer alongside the Mapocho River.
Favorite Dish: We've had delicious meals each time we've dined here!
