"Norma's" Norma's at Le Parker Meridien New York Tip by madamx

by madamx

Norma's is no ordinary all-day breakfast place. It's clean and modern and caters to a certain clientele -- who hopefully have expense accounts that can pay for the $1000 lobster and caviar omelette ( under the "Try to Expense This" section). But at Norma's you pay for what you get -- generous gourmet breakfasts, beautiful surroundings, and great, if sniffy, service. That was quickly corrected when we politely asked our server's name, and started filling out the Customer Satisfaction Survey in front of him, Ha!

Favorite Dish: The breakfasts here are really good, and you end up reading the menu like a novel -- it's really hard to pick one thing to eat. My friend settled on the Eggs Florentine; perfectly poached eggs on beds of spinach and accompanied by the terrific Niman Ranch bacon; I had the Overstuffed Croissant. My croissant was actually two buttery croissants, and overstuffed they were, with gently scrambled eggs and smoked salmon The portions are extremely generous as well as the freshly squeezed orange juice -- all you can drink, and at $7.95 a glass, it should be. The breakfasts were accompanied by fairly ordinary sauteed potatoes, and my pet peeve -- if you are charging upwards of $25.00 a person for breakfast, puleease try to filter your water, don't give us yucky tasting tap water.

Update:on a return trip 2 years later, I've noticed the menu choices seem reduced, but food quality is the same. Try one of the fluffy omelets.
