This is another wonderful scenic spot along the Ecuador's Andes. The drive to get up here is spectacular as well, and half the fun. The villages in the area are also an interesting window into Ecuador's Andean life.

The Laguna Quilotoa is a weird volcanic crater at altitude 3800m. The crater filled with beautifully hued water (due to its mineral contents) stretches for approximately 2km. One can descend to water level by a short hike through a sandy/gravelled trail. If you don't feel like walking back up again? No problem! You can hire a mule from one of the locals to carry you back up.
