Tha Tian located in an area of Royal residence and temple area. The name of Tha Tian derived from many story. 1st story talked about the legend of Wat Pho and Wat Chaeng(Wat Arun) Giants have fighted on this area and all surrounding was destroyed as plain field. 2nd story about the fire on this area and all building was destroyed by fire as plain field. It was happened on King Rama IV's reign. After fire, the market was built and surrounded with shophouses where still alive til now.
Tha Tian in the early Rattanakosin period was an important pier for all foriegn Ambassadors must arranged and began the procession here for arrival the Grand Palace. This pier was also the main centre of water public transportation to other remote provinces. Today,it is the centre of fresh vegetable, fruite and dried sea products.
On Tha Tian pier, there are some postcard and souvenir shop together with local food restuarants where offer a wonderful view of Wat Arun.
If you 'd like to touch this area, just hanging in some restaurants which decorated in old style and watching the way of people. It's the easy way to back to the old time.
