Open Air at the Wiener Rathausplatz: "Film Festival" Vienna Nightlife Tip by filipdebont
Vienna Nightlife: 264 reviews and 325 photos
From July 2nd till September 4th (2005) there was the Wiener Film Festival.
There was a big screen mounted at the Wiener Rathaus (City Hall), and the Rathausplatz was filled with rows of seats.
Every night there were movies. At several places you could get a program, that way it was easy to plan what movie you wanted to see.
It must have been the paradise for every Music lover. I am not sure if they have a different theme every year, but any way this year Music was the red wire in the program.
From July 2nd till September 4th, they were showing movies like Owen Wingrave, an opera written by Benjamin Britten, Die Fledermaus the very famous operetta from Johan Strauss, concert of Jamie Cullum (Jazz), Othello Opera from Giuseppe Verdi, . . .
The big gangway through the Rathauspark (in the direction of the Burgtheater) was filled with beer and food stalls. There was a great atmosphere here.
