8th October is Air force day.
There is a parade, and some very impressive fly pasts, besides a full range of aircraft on display- modern Su-30's and Mirage 2000's to the old An-12 and Spitfire.
Among the highlights of the show were an aerobatic display by the Surya Kirans and the ALH choppers, inflight refuelling, and a grand show by a Su30- pulling off some crazy manoeuvres.
I was there shooting for `Mission Udaan'. A show around the Indian Airforce, for National Geographic Channel...
The venue is the airforce station- Palam Airport. What that means though, is that normal-commercial air traffic is put on hold for 2 hours (8am to 10pm) every morning, during the days leading up to the Airshow.
Address: Airforce station, Palam Airport
Directions: Turn right before you reach the domestic airport terminals, towards the Airforce museum
