The Monument to the fallen shipyard workers consists of three monumental steel crosses (42 m, 139 tons).
It was built in 1980 to commemorates the shipyard workers who were shot by the communist regime during a strike in 1970. The erection of the memorial was one of Solidarity's (Solidarnosc) main demands in 1980. The monument is surrounded by several memorials and plaques which are dedicated to the victims of the street protests.
The Monument to the fallen shipyard workers stands at the Solidarity Square (Pl. Solidarnosci), which is located near the gates to the Gdansk Shipyard (Stocznia Gdanska).
