"If you're prepared you can enjoy the park by water" Algonquin Provincial Park Sports & Outdoors Tip by CdnJane

I didn't partake this time, but years ago as a camper, we set out to our summer camp from Canoe Lake Portage Docks (which is much fancier now then it was 35 yrs ago!). From here you can rent a canoe, and the gear, to go canoeing for the day, or for several days. This time, we just watched the many tourists and their families going out for an hour or so, to enjoy the experience.
Equipment: Rent your canoe here and paddles, and life jacket. However, if you are going for a while, bring a waterproof bag with sleeping bag, tent, and food in well sealed containers, and well protected from predators at night. For October, you will definitely need warm clothes as it gets chilly at night.
Address: Canoe Lake Portage
Directions: Km. 14 from the West Entrance of Algonquin Park - on the north side of the road, just down a hill.
