It is early morning and I hear the soft ticking of the rain against the window. Sigh, not a good sign for what the rest of the day will bring. Below my window I can hear the market people talking. It?s market day, so there is a lot of activity on the street, even on this early hour of the day. It sounds cosy in a way, hearing all the French talking, laughing and shouting in the distance. The hustle and bustle of the market is clearly noticeable while I am being lazy and snooze off into dreamland again. Lying in bed I am thinking how nice it would be to stroll on the market as a beginning of the day, hmmm.... I hear the ticking of the rain again against the window and reality strikes me. Sigh, maybe not such a good idea after all. I am not such a hero where rain is concerned; I don?t really enjoy walking around in it. Maybe it?s better to skip that plan and make a run for the car through the rain instead. So that?s what we did, hoping there might be another day to have a lazy stroll on a French market.
The plan for the day was to take the scenic road between La Ciotat and Cassis called ?promenade des Crêtes?. From this road you have beautiful views over the bay of Cassis. Sigh? if I could have seen something! I think the picture speaks for itself, it was rainy, it was foggy, and it was bad! Driving here was like torture, I knew this stretch of road must be fantastic to do on a nice day, but now? argh, nothing to see, only anguish about what I was missing. We kept on going on our original route though, against better knowledge, hoping sometime during the day the weather might clear up. It looked like such a great day when we planned it, following the coastline all the way from Cassis to Nice. The beautiful views over the Mediterranean, the blue colour of the sea, the amazing views... But we never thought it would be like this, grey sky, rain, the only thing to watch were the window wipers all day long. Hahaha, I think it?s a day that I should try to forget.
