The Apple shop on Regents Street
by avanutria

I heard a rumour the other day and just had to check it out. Turned out to be true! In central London there are some Apple computer superstores. One is on Regent Street and I understand there is another on Tottenham Court Road. They have lots of computers set up for potential customers to try, and they are all connected to the internet!

Forget net cafes at a pound an hour - wander to your local Apple store and browse to your heart's content. You don't have to talk to a salesperson or anything.

The down side is that there isn't as much privacy as in a net cafe - since it's a store there will be people wandering around behind you and possibly reading your screen. (Try to get a machine that is facing a wall, there are probably a couple like that.) Also, it can get pretty busy and you might have to loiter for a little while before you spot a free machine. But for the traveller on a budget it's certainly worth an attempt.

The Regent Street shop is just south of Oxford Circus, on the west side of the road.
