This place is fantastic!! This is a campground that offer's free camping to explorers / hikers who are hiking up to Pike's Peak. It is located about 7 miles from the entrance of the Barr Trail in Manitou Springs; and about 6 miles from the summit of Pike's Peak. The caretakers there are named Neal and Teresa. They live there 24/7; 365. They cater to everyone who passes through.

While here, you have a choice of either camping in the campground (Free), or bunking up in the Bunk House ($15 US per night) (I camped, because it was more fun). In the morning, Teresa will fix breakfast. The morining I woke up, I had REAL home-made-from-scratch Apple Cinnamon Pancakes and 2 cups of freshly brewed coffee!

This place is a must, and I highly recommend it. If you get there after 9PM, the lodge will be closed, but there is a register outside you may provide your information.
