the architech of this building is unknown, but boy did he create a masterpiece! It was the residence of the Doge, the supreme head of state in Venice during the early ages. The facade facing the lagoon was completed during the years of 1400 - 1404 wereas the Piazetta side was not ready untill 1424. Many artists work on the decoration of this building, but most of the ornamental work was done by members of the Bons family.
