"Walk through a fallen sequoia tree" Kings Canyon National Park Things to Do Tip by mikelisaanna
Kings Canyon National Park Things to Do: 72 reviews and 136 photos
In Grant Grove, lies the remains of a fallen sequoia tree (nicknamed the Fallen Monarch) whose trunk you can walk through. The bark is over a foot thick and you truly get a feel for the immense size of these trees when you can stand up inside of one. The Fallen Monarch fell over 100 years ago. Sequoia trees decay very slowly due to their tough bark, so you will still probably be able to walk through it another 50 years from now.
Directions: A five minute hike from the parking lot at Grant Grove in Sequoia National Park.
