Luxor is THE centre of the old Egyptian culture. Known as Thebes it has been the capital of the Egypts during the reign of the faraos.
The city is divided in two parts, the side of life (eastbank of the Nile) and the side of death (westbank of the Nile).
The centre is very alive and busy and the streets are mostly not paved.
You can take horse and carriage, a cab or a bike to get around and personally I would go for the bike because you won't have to hassle you're way in and you can go where YOU want to go!

The Karnak Temple is the most famous attraction on the eastbank while you will find The Valley of the Kings and all the other famous temples on the westbank of the Nile.
Crossing the Nile is easy because there a lot of motorboats that will get you across for less then 10 pounds.

Don't forget to go sailing on the Nile in a felucca (small sailing ship) at sunset!

Directions: In the centre of Egypt
