I like big bookshops with a large selection of books, but I'm not a good customer as I often look in the bookshop and then order on Internet where it is cheaper to buy.

I use my guidebooks for more than 10 - 15 days. Before a trip they are good for research and after a trip I sometimes use them to look up things I have forgotten when I'm about to write a tip. And as I sometimes visit the same country again I usually use the old guidebook if it is not too much out of date (that's what I did when I went to Ireland and last year when I went to Ecuador, but for this years trip to Ecuador I have bought a newer edition).
