"Catholicism" Krakow Local Custom Tip by mikelisaanna

Krakow Local Customs: 270 reviews and 333 photos

Poland is a very Catholic nation. In a week in Krakow, we saw more priests and nuns than one would see in a year in the United States. Unlike Western Europeans (the Irish excepted), the Poles regularly attend church. In a number of churches, we saw people kneeling on stone floors praying fervently to the statues or paintings of saints. Pope John Paul II was the archbishop of Krakow prior to being elected Pope, and is held in very high regard by Krakovians.
