L'Isle Sur Sorgue is famous, especially for it's huge Sunday market. I was so happy we had time to get there on this trip. People come early (parking is scarce) and stay late. I'd never seen such an array of goods, foods, trinkets, furniture, antiques and just plain everything. It's a great place to buy a picnic lunch or to enjoy food in one of the many outdoor cafes. The lettuce in Provence is extraordinary - huge and inexpensive. I can say the same for the melons and peaches.I loved the huge amounts of soaps for sale - I'll be clean for years.

The sunday Market at L'Isle sur la Sorgue is just about the best I have ever seen. I stayed in L'Isle for two weeks in 2011 and enjoyed the markets on both of the Sundays that I was there. The Thursday markets are almost as good as well. I particularly liked the cheeses and charcuterie and oh yes, those gigantic meringues in all different flavours!

  Lucky you staying there for so long. I haven't been back to Provence for quite a few years now (just too much to see in Europe), and I miss it. We went to the Languedoc region last June for a week and that was wonderful, too, but I didn't see any markets like the one at L'Isle!
