What can you say about Rome that hasn't already been said before? What you do and even say today may have it's roots in Roman history over 2000 years ago. In my mind, everyone should try and spend at least a day soaking up what Rome has to offer whether it be the historic ancient ruins, absorbing the wonderful art on display in the city's many varied museums or tasting the local food and drink, Rome has to be experienced.

Personally, I spent 3 days here and saw a great deal which I've outlined in my itinerary below. In order to really take in nearly everything, you should allow yourself at least 5 days. I made a note of all the things I wanted to see and then divided them into the 3 days that I was in Rome for. I split Rome into the following three areas:

Northeast Rome
Vatican City
Ancient centre, Pantheon and Piazza Navona.
