If you are fed up with the heat during the summer, why not go up to the cool mountains?

The local people did this allready hundert's of years ago.
They have built their Monti's, summer houses up on higher altitudes.

There are plenty of possibilities to go up, either hiking, driving your car, riding your bicycle or a specially nice alternative, take the cable car.

eg. In Lumino, 10 minutes driving north of Bellinzona, on the upper hillside of the village you find the cable car (Funivia Pizzo di Claro) station to go up to the Sauru.
On the top end you find a little restaurant.
From there you can walk to Paruschana (approx 30 minutes), I nice spot for a picnic.
For the more adventurous you can hike in several hours to the Capanna Brogoldone.
But this requires soem expirience in mountain hiking.
