Near Birmingham is the West Midlands Safari Park, there's a large carpark nr toilets which are grubby and almost always out of toilet paper. You can hire a bus to go round the park, but it's always full up so it's wise to book in advance; althrough there's no sign to tell you there's no more room.

The Twilight Cave is very intresting, home to a bachelor group of rare Rodrigues Fruit Bats which fly freely round your head. There's stars imprinted on the roof and everything is pitch black, watch out for the silly screaming woman who stepped on my foot; she was more dangerouse then the bats!

Outside there's an impressive waterfall which will sprey you if you are in the right place on a hot day. There's a sealion display every hour which is good, most of the seats will get full. You can see Nile and Florida crocadiles and snakes in the reptile house, althrough it's a bit stuffy after a while. There's a funfair with rides like rollercoaster like the Walls Twister or Rhinocoaster, carried along by the Zambezi Water Splash.

Oasis Licensed Bar & Coffee Shop is the place we ate at. Good for assorted baguettes, pasta dishes, ice cream, muffins, flapjacks and low-fat desserts. They will accept cheques, there's toilets nearbye.

The entrance to the Safari Park has some very rattly cattle grids. I noticed that many people ignored the notices that said 'please keep your windows shut', there is usually a ranger round in white stripped landrovers to pull you out of the lion's mouth.

There's many shops here and there like African Trading Company which sell ethnic curios, quality animal soft toys, limited edition prints, African t-shirts and safari souvenirs.

Park opens at 10.00am - Last Admission is 4.00pm
