"Porta Bombardiera" Piazza dei Signori - Piazza Dante Tip by Willettsworld

The famous Porta Bombardiera, built in 1687 by Miglioranzi, stands in the courtyard of Palazzo del Capitano with its original decorations of cannons, bombards and drums.
The courtyard is of particular interest, with its lovely Renaissance well and its Gothic open gallery which used to be decorated with frescoes by Altichiero, painted in the 14th century. There is a splendid entrance into the Palazzo del Capitano and its courtyard, designed by Sanmicheli in the 16th century.
