Granted these pandas are in a zoo and not in some forest in Chengdu, but let's face it, what are the odds you'll come across one of these magnificent creatures in the wild .. or even in your hometown zoo (unless your hometown is in China).

The panda enclosure is located somewhere in the center of the Chiang Mai Zoo. The zoo is HUGE so you will need transport to get around. There is a tram that goes around, but best to bring your own wheels. You do have to pay extra for it though, Baht 50 for a car, and Baht 30 per person to enter. To see the pandas, you pay extra Baht 100 per person .. but well worth it. The only good reason to go to Chiang Mai zoo is to see the pandas.

The panda enclosure is airconditioned, spacious and very clean. Visitors have a good chance to see them upclose by arriving around 9:15 am during feeding time. The pandas are named Lin-Hui and Chuang Chuang and are on friendship loan from China.
