"Eating on the cheap..." Province of Quebec Restaurant Tip by LeDragon

Province of Quebec Restaurants: 24 reviews and 41 photos

Few general informations about eating in restaurants in Québec province :
-All restaurants have to display their prices outside, usually along the door, sometimes on the walkway. This way, you can compare restaurants without committing yourself !
-The prices displayed on the menu or outside will not include the 15,25 % taxes. Forget the 0,25%, this is a canadian joke ! In most restaurants, the tips are up to you, not automatically added to the bill. The use is to give a 15 % tip, except for "buffet" where you go get your food yourself instead of having it brought to your table. There are no tips in fast food restaurants too.
-Fill up at lunch time !
For those on tight budget, remember that many restaurants offer a special menu at lunch time, from monday to friday. In french, it is either "menu du jour" or "table d'hote". Most times, this will include an entry or soup, coffee/thea, sometimes dessert. Most of the times, this special menu isn't on the written menu. It will be displayed on a board on the wall. Ask the waitress/waiter.
Hope this will help some !
