"Rossio" Praça Dom Pedro IV - Place du Rossio Tip by XanderDone

  Restaurants in Rossio
by XanderDone

The Rossio neighborhood is very historical, filled with elevadores, praças, stores and hotels. Perhaps the first sign of a modern city in Lisboa due to the gridline street pattern, it still is very old lined with restaurants in the middle of the streets. Most of Rossio is not accessable by cars unless they are imperative for the businesses inside. You can see many different monuments here, and it is surely a great place to be at about 6pm when people are looking for a place to eat. Beware, though, of walking alone in these streets because there are a lot of homeless people looking to sell you hash or other drugs. It gets scary sometimes, so be very careful if you are alone. Show them that you do not know Portuguese (even if you do) and they'll leave you alone. If that doesn't work, pretend like you have to catch up with a friend or family.
