Casa Cini, which is situated right opposite to the church of San Stefano, is one of the most beautiful medieval houses in Ferrara. In the middle ages, today's Via Boccacanale was the town's most important navigable canal and is overlooked by buildings of the period. Worth of note is cpacious portico of Casa Cini which was one the boathouse.
This beautiful medieval palace belonged to old family of Counts Cini. Count Vittorio Cini, after the tragic death of his son Giorgio, in 1949 gave the palace to Jesuits who after the war returned to Ferrara. The Jesuits called this legacy Casa Giorgio Cini (the House of Giorgio Cini) and placed here substantial religious library.
The library has become a gathering place for young people from Ferrara who studied and promoted religious culture.
