"Old pumping-engine "Van Gennep"" Nieuwerkerk aan den IJssel Off The Beaten Path Tip by hdv63

Through the trees near the end of the path at the left side you can see the old pumping-engine "Van Gennep". It was built in 1876 and is not in use since in 1972 the new pumping-engine "Abraham Kroes" took over.
In 1975 parts of the film "Keetje Tippel" were made on this location. In the film the building was as supposed to be a bleachery. In present-days the building has been transformed into two houses.
