Torphicen Preceptory was the Scottish HQ for the knights of St John of Jerusalem. it was a monastic order of soldier monks to look after the hospital in Jerusalem.
The Preceptory was founded in 1124, and the present building from the 13th C.
The only parts remaining are a tower and transepts of a church, which have been altered over the years.
The present Parish churh now adjoins the structure.
