"A narrow country: landscapes in Sweden (South)" Top 5 Page for this destination Sweden Favorite Tip by Maline

Favorite thing: In such a long and widespread country as Sweden, the landscapes are bound to vary a lot from south to north. Southern Sweden is agricultural land. Much of the land is turned into fields because of the rich soils. Southernmost Skane and up through Blekinge and further is also quite flat land. Down south the land is also much more densely populated. I have heard of Skane people not being bothered to travel to see their relatives living as fas away as ...20 kilometres...! You will drive ten times that distance to get a decent burger up north!
Smaland boasts wide forests in the midst of which is the Crystal centre of Sweden. It was also hear that IKEA founder Kamprad was born and raised ...
The west coast is fanous for its smooth cliffs and seals and long beaches. Lovely archipelago trips are easily taken from Gothenburg town.
Inland lakes of Vanern and Vattern are to be found somewht higher up. ON the east shores of Vattern is town Motala with the longest inland beach in northern Europe. Deep lake Vattern offers spectacular landscapes, also from the car window when driving up towards Stockholm.
Don't forget islands Gotland (chalk soil, fossils and medieval architecture) and Oland (unique flora) on the east coast.
