  St Pierre de Montmartre
by gordonilla

During the 19th century, the bohemian lifstyle of Montmartre attracted artists and writers whose presence turned the area into paris' most important centre of creativity.

However, Montmartre has been the site of a community since very early times and the Church of St Pierre de Montmartre has been in existence since 1147.

The church was the Abbots Church of the Royal Monastery of the Benedictines of Montmartre (1147-1680). In addition, it has been the Parish church of Montmartre from 1147 to the present day.
