Castel Sant'Angelo, Rome: 146 reviews and 289 photos

<B>We all have places we like that we have an affinity for. The moment I saw CASTLE SANT ANGELO I was in awe. Built in 139 AD by Emperor Hadrian as a mausoleum, it was later used surrepticiously as a barracks, a prison, a papal fortress and now it houses a museum of art and military relics. To me it is multi faceted and reeks of mystery...it even has a secret tunnel out the back so it would be possible to elude capture and fade into the night.<B>
