This little castle, at about 300 m from the main castle in Amboise is famous because Leonardo da Vinci spent here the last years of his life.

For 12 euros you can visit the several quarters, among which the drawing rooms, the kitchen, the dining room, bedrooms etc.

I especially liked the cosy drawing room with 18th century furniture, tapestries and open windows with view over the park.

IBM built several tools, machinery and working models of many of the gadgets designed by da Vinci.
There is an exhibition of these replicas in the basement.

The parc is landscaped with the same da Vinci machines, giant models this time, meant for kids to play with. I thought this was a bit overdone.

A renaissance patio and terrace with shop and tea-room tie up the visit.

For whom who wants to spend more time here: there is a very nice restaurant in the former mill in the park: "La Table du Moulin".

General appreciation: nice, but don't spill your time here when you didn't see the main chateau of Amboise yet.
