an enclosed courtyard dating back to the 14c. originally built as a sanctuary for Catholic women who lived like nuns but did not take the vow. beautiful houses and the oldest house in amsterdam is here.

**a very difficult place to find...i can't even begin to tell you how we got there, it seemed we were going around in circles...we were circling the actual courtyard but could not find the entrance to it. but it is worth looiking for!**
