"The Dominican Church" Dominican Church - Holy Trinity Basilica Tip by mightywease
Dominican Church - Holy Trinity Basilica, Krakow: 6 reviews and 6 photos
Construction of The Dominican Church was begin in 1250 with chapels and alters being added in the 17th and 18th centuries. The church was almost destroyed by fire in 1850 but was subsequently reconstructed.
What struck me first of all when we entered the church was the number of worshippers indicating a thriving spiritual community. The church has a beautiful interior with decorated side chapels and shrines. The statues were particularly impressive, some looking like wax figures rather than sculpture.
It was a very quiet, calm and meditative place to visit and ? though I cannot profess to have a strong faith myself ? I was very moved by the number of worshippers. I think that a strong faith, any faith whether is be Christian, Muslim, Jewish, Buddhist etc.. must be a great comfort and I am always a little in awe ? and slightly envious - of those who can maintain one.
