"Fly direct from Bangkok and hire a driver" Cambodia Transportation Tip by atufft

Cambodia Transportation: 248 reviews and 233 photos

We only had a few days, so we flew direct from Bangkok, Thailand, which is only about a 30 minute flight. At the airport, you'll need cash to pay passport charges, and getting a driver there is highly recommended. Some low budget travelers may choose to rent a scooter, but given the unbearable humidity and heat in April, we were thankful we hired a driver. The price was very low, about $20 per day for car, gas, and driver, as I recall, but prices have probably climbed considerably by now. Even so, our driver was reliable, friendly and honest. He often left the motor running and the AC on which I grabbed a lense and camera for a shot of a minor temple on the run. The back seat was a good place to stash my equipment, and the driver was good security for our belongings.
