Fil's Cafe: "Enjoy the Walls as you enjoy the food!" Top 5 Page for this destination Barrie Restaurant Tip by CdnJane

Fil's Cafe is one of those places where the locals go and is called a greasy spoon. Well, ok, so it isn't the Ritz Carlton, or a fancy place, but the food is great! I'd say that Fil's serves about the best club sandwich in Barrie. His Halibut fish & chips are terrific too. His prices are good. However, what sets Fil's apart from the other greasy spoons with great food, is his decor! He has stuffed / fake fish all over the walls, plaques apropos to the kitchen (The Kitchen is Closed Due To Illness. I'm Sick of Cooking!), and in one cubby hole, family pictures. Fil and his wife, and family are glad to greet you and chat. You might meet some of the regulars who like to go there because they are sure of a friendly welcome and company.
Favorite Dish: As mentioned, the club sandwich is fantastic. Real turkey slices, with fresh cooked bacon slices. Have it with their fries (chips) or with salad, but don't be surprised if you might want to take some home in a "doggy bag". The halibut is great. Have it with fries, with onion rings or with salad. I have never been disappointed with it.
